Terms of Service

These terms cover the StreamMaster Shield service offered at streammaster.co.uk/shield. By requesting a license, paying for a subscription, or using the portal, you agree to them. If you are taking out a license on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to do so.

1. What the service is

Shield is a managed protection service. In plain terms: the node software runs on a server you control, your traffic is routed through it, and we filter that traffic before it reaches your origin — absorbing large floods, rate-limiting, and blocking requests that match our rules. The software, the license key, and the portal that runs it are provided to you under these terms. You are not buying the software outright; you are licensing the service on a per-server, per-month basis.

The service works on hardware you own or rent. We operate the management side — the licenses, the portal, the rule set — and you run the node on your side.

2. Licenses and keys

Each server gets its own license key. Keep it private — treat it the way you would treat a root password. Do not share it, publish it, or hard-code it where other people can see it. If you think a key has leaked, tell us and we will rotate it for you.

3. Acceptable use

You are responsible for the traffic you route through the service and for making sure you are allowed to serve it. We take a hard line on a few things, and blocking on them is not open for debate:

• launching or amplifying attacks from a Shield node, or using it as a relay for abuse;
• hosting malware, phishing pages, or material that is clearly illegal where you operate;
• re-selling raw access to the Shield platform as a service without an approved reseller arrangement;
• using the service in a way that puts other customers' nodes or the platform itself at risk.

If traffic on your node falls foul of this, we will block it and tell you why. If it continues, we can suspend your license.

4. Payments and renewal

Pricing is per server per month, as shown on the site, and is paid monthly in advance by PayPal. Subscriptions renew each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your portal or by emailing us; the service stays active until the end of the month you have paid for.

If a payment fails, we will try to let you know, but a license with no valid payment stops serving traffic. That is a fair outcome for both sides, and we would rather have that conversation early than after a forced suspension.

5. Refunds

Cancel within 14 days of buying, before any traffic has been routed through your node, and we will refund you in full — no forms, no fuss. After that window our refunds are discretionary: if the service genuinely did not work as advertised, tell us exactly what happened and we will put it right rather than argue about it.

6. What we do not guarantee

We build this to be reliable, but we need to be straight with you that nothing about internet attacks is predictable. We do not guarantee that every attack will be absorbed, that traffic will be uninterrupted, or that the figures in your dashboard will match your own logs to the last request. We do not offer a formal uptime SLA on consumer pricing. What we do promise is that the service does what we say it does — filters traffic, enforces your rules, and gives you the tools to see what it stopped.

7. Liability

We are not liable to you for loss of revenue, loss of data, or other indirect losses caused by downtime or by the service not performing as expected, and we are not liable for anything outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event that gave rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service at any time. We can suspend or terminate a license with 7 days' notice if you breach these terms, and without notice if you commit fraud, try to compromise the platform, or act in a way that endangers other customers. When a license ends, its key stops working and its node stops serving traffic.

9. Changes to these terms

The service is still evolving, and these terms will change with it. We will update this page and, for significant changes, email you before they take effect. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept it.
